As a keen cyclist and a Spinning instructor, at the age of 55, I frequently call upon Lucie to massage the fatigue out of my tired legs. Typically its hamstrings, calves and ITBand that need attention and whilst you can always say, ‘no pain, no gain’ the sense of relief an hour or so after the massage is really welcome.
On occasions, I have needed particular attention to specific muscles, sometimes resulting in the application of Kinesiology tape to support the problem muscles. In all instances, I have found Lucie to be very knowledgeable and professional, with a warm welcome, humour and friendliness.
Thanks Lucie for looking after me.
Lucie has helped me recover from two shoulder operations. She is extremely competent, professional and very caring. She is passionate about her work and achieves great results. I’d never have made such a good recovery without her work and encouragement. I have no hesitation in recommending her.
Lucie promoted the SMA and the Road2Rio programme in articles with Physique, Twitter, Social media to get more of our Athletes to Rio with sponsored treatment, this message reached me as I was preparing for Olympic swimming trials. As an unfunded athlete, it can be extremely difficult to split my time between work and training. Thanks to the SMA Road 2 Rio program and especially Lucie Spraggon I no longer have to worry about the extra costs associated with my physiotherapy.
Lucie is a highly qualified physiotherapist who has experience dealing with athletes, so to receive treatment from her for a fraction of the price means I get the support I need. Lucie works around my schedule as not to interfere with training and only lives a few miles away.
I have also recommended that a fellow Olympic hopeful Tristan Slater join the program, as I believe that any athlete needing help should make the most of what SMA are trying to do!
It is testiment to Lucie that more students have gone onto study a form of Sports Therapy in the last 2 years of her becoming a teacher. I first came into contact with Lucie during my Sports Massage lessons at Strode. I am now an aspiring Sports Therapist, Lucie was a successful role model to look up to, her lessons pushed me and other classmates to persue this career and join the SMA. Her teaching technique is easy to understand and confident, with her explanations clear and professional. She pushed me to be better, to go above and beyond to teach me to learn extra techniques that would later help me at University. She saw the potential in us all and any help we needed, Lucie was immediately at our side. I regularly see Lucie to have treatment on certain ailments and I honestly cannot fault her. As someone who is Powerlifting at an international level I would not be competing this well without the work Lucie has put into me. I couldn’t have had a better introduction into Sports Therapy without Lucie as my teacher.
Three months after suffering whip lash in a car accident I was beginning to despair. I had tried other treatments to some limited success and I was struggling to carry and play with my young daughter.
I messaged Lucie and she fitted me in with just a few days wait. After only a couple of sessions I could feel myself recovering and everything beginning to get easier again. I now receive less frequent maintenance treatments and always notice a difference after them.
Lucie is friendly, supportive and knowledgeable and I would definitely recommend.
I’ve known Lucie for a few years now as she has the patience and the humour to put my 14 year old daughter Elizabeth’s swimming muscles back together, with nervous giggling knot popping, and the time she takes to demo and explain the stretches needed to maintain her muscles. Then from maintaining a 14 year old swimmer, to sorting a dodgy calf muscle on my 44 year old not keen on running legs 3 days before my first triathlon – I finished because of Lucie.
